It’s been a year since I joined ACF Praise Dance and soon found that it’s so much more fun and meaningful dancing with friends and led by our very enthusiastic and experienced instructor - Candy - when compared to dancing by myself at home in front of the DVD She makes it a fun exercise that looks seemingly easy but the best part is the English translation for each dance so I can now understand what I’m dancing to.
I found that the actions and dance steps gave me a deeper insight into God’s Word when we praise God this way as we focus on dancing only for our Abba Father God and forget our self-consciousness and not worry about what others think.
Over the last 6 months I have had 3 operations - total right knee replacement in mid Aug, total left knee replacement in mid-Nov and removal of a large conjunctivital cyst from my left eye in mid Dec.
My grandma, mum and older siblings had all suffered from knee pain and I had experienced knee pain for over 10 years too but since I became a Christian I realised that this can be stopped and I began to rebuke the pain and renounce any generational disease in the name and authority of our LORD However, the knee pain gradually worsened even tho I had been praying for a miraculous instantaneous healing where God would zap me and my knees will be OK straightaway so I wasn’t too happy when I was advised by the specialists that surgery was the only option left After much prayer and discussions with my pastors I felt God’s peace and agreed to the operation and that is when I experienced God’s goodness and miracles - although in a very different manner from what I had expected earlier.
After the operation the surgeon was very happy after examining the post op X-Rays - my recovery and rehab was practically a painfree experience and I only needed normal strength panadol to mange the pain level when I exercise After only two nights stay in the hospital, I was discharged to continue rehab at home The nurse and physiotherapists who came were fantastic and showed me various exercises to regain flexibility with my new knees and after a couple of weeks I was given the all clear to stop using the crutches.
I had assumed this was the norm until I started to hear about the agonising pain that other patients had experienced after their total knee replacement surgery even after taking high doses of pain relief medication and that some were still experiencing very limited mobility 6 months after their surgery.
Truly God has blessed me tremendously and I am so thankful to Jesus as He has always been with me in the midst of the operations in guiding the surgeons’s hand, protecting me and granting me His favour with the best professionals for all the treatment that I had required.
I know that my God will restore what the locusts have stolen from me over the past years in my limited movements, that He will command His angels to protect me so even if I stumble I will not fall and He will enable me to be as surefooted as a deer and keeps me safe on the high mountains as His presence surrounds me Joel 2:25; Habakkuk 3:19; Psalm18:36 Psalm 91:11-12; Proverbs 4:12 I was so overwhelmed by God’s goodness to me and eager to get back to Praise Dance sessions - so about 6 weeks after my 2nd total knee replacement I sneaked into the last Praise Dance session for last year and cautiously tried to follow the dance steps and to my delight I realised I could dance again for my God !!
It also dawned on me that if the founder of Praise Dance in Taiwan can still choreograph and dance for the DVD at the age of 88 this year, so can I I will dance for my God and praise His name and shout “Look what the LORD has done !!” Thank you!
